Lagos State First Lady, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday led hundreds of women in the 25th Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials (COWLSO) Pre-Conference Wellness Walk held in Ikorodu, Lagos East Senatorial District.
EpeInsights reports that the fitness walk, which promotes wellness, solidarity, and civic engagement among women in leadership, attracted over 470 participants, including the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, and COWLSO members from across Lagos.
The event was hosted by Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, wife of Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, who mobilized participants from the five councils in the Ikorodu Division to welcome the First Lady.
As part of the day’s activities, Dr. Sanwo-Olu visited the SAIL Innovation Lab, a technology and skills development hub founded by Senator Abiru and his wife through the SAIL Empowerment Foundation. The centre offers free training in digital skills, entrepreneurship, and career development to youths across Lagos East.
Impressed with the facility, the First Lady praised the initiative for its impact on youth empowerment.
“What Senator Abiru and his wife are doing through the SAIL Innovation Lab is truly phenomenal,” she said.
“This centre is shaping the future of our youths and securing a better tomorrow for our communities.”
She encouraged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity while reaffirming the state government’s commitment to innovation and youth development.
The COWLSO delegation also visited the Industrial Development Centre of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and paid homage to Mrs. Oluwagbemiga Olabisi Benson, the pioneer Executive Chairman of LASUBEB.
Mrs. Feyisola Abiru expressed gratitude to the First Lady and the Lagos State Government for their continued support of women’s initiatives.
“The THEMES+ agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu aligns perfectly with the Renewed Hope vision of President Bola Tinubu and the advocacy of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu,” she noted.
The COWLSO Pre-Conference Walk is a precursor to the group’s annual National Women’s Conference, which focuses on health awareness, leadership, and inclusivity among women in governance.
