President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed AIG Olatunji Riliwan Disu as Acting Inspector-General of Police.
Epe Insights reports that the appointment has been widely described as a recognition of Disu’s years of dedication and professional excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.
Reacting to the development, Engr. Dr. Aiyeola Sikiru of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Abuja, congratulated the new Acting IGP.
He described the elevation as a fitting reward for resilience, discipline, and unwavering service to the nation.
Aiyeola noted that Disu’s steady rise through the ranks reflects courage and consistent leadership capacity.
He said the appointment marks a significant milestone for both the officer and the police institution.
Beyond professional ties, Aiyeola highlighted a long-standing personal connection with the Disu family.
He recalled their shared history at Odo-Obara High School in Epe during the 1985/86 academic session.
According to him, he served as Senior Boy while Olufunlola Disu (née Raheem), wife of the Acting IGP, was Assistant Senior Girl.
He described the moment as special, given the journey and achievements witnessed over the years.

Aiyeola further referenced Disu’s leadership roles in the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos and the Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
He also cited his service in Rivers State Command, the Federal Capital Territory Command, the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), and the Special Protection Unit (SPU).
The NASRDA director expressed confidence that Disu’s operational experience will strengthen internal security.
He added that his reform-driven approach is expected to boost public trust and institutional accountability.
