In a significant move against cybercrime, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 120 individuals suspected of internet-related fraud in Lagos State.
EpeInsights quotes the spokesperson for EFCC, Dele Oyewale, as saying that the arrests were made on Monday, May 19, 2025, following actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance by operatives of the Lagos Zonal Directorate 1. The suspects include 95 men and 25 women.
This coordinated operation led to the seizure of high-value items including 26 exotic vehicles, luxury jewelry, smartphones, laptops, and documents allegedly tied to fraudulent activities.
EFCC confirmed that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of inquiries.
