Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially launched two major residential developments: Olaleye New Town Estate in Iponri and Megamound Greater Lagos Apartments in Obele-Oniwala, Surulere.
Describing the projects as key milestones in his administration’s vision for a “Greater Lagos,” Sanwo-Olu said the developments go beyond just providing homes. According to him, they reflect an inclusive approach to urban renewal—bringing together modern infrastructure, community living, and economic uplift.
“These projects are not just about buildings. They’ve also created jobs, supported local businesses, and boosted the economy in these neighborhoods,” the Governor said at the inauguration.
He praised the hard work and collaboration of everyone involved—from architects and engineers to local residents and construction workers—highlighting the role of teamwork in driving real change.
The housing projects are part of the broader T.H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda, which focuses on Transportation, Health, Education, Making Lagos a 21st Century Economy, Entertainment & Tourism, Security, and now includes urban development and inclusive growth.
Sanwo-Olu also had a message for new homeowners: foster a strong community spirit. He emphasized the importance of cooperation among residents to build peaceful, vibrant neighborhoods. He further called on the private sector to ramp up partnerships with government in expanding affordable housing options across the state.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by key stakeholders in the housing sector and served as a reminder of Lagos State’s ongoing push to improve the quality of life for its residents—one housing development at a time.
