As the world marked World Teachers’ Day 2025, the Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, has paid tribute to teachers, describing them as “the true architects of society’s future.”
EpeInsights reports that in a statement commemorating the occasion, Senator Abiru lauded educators for their patience, resilience and enduring commitment to nurturing young minds and shaping a better tomorrow.
He emphasised that no nation can achieve sustainable growth without investing in the welfare and capacity of its teachers.
“To every teacher in Lagos East and across Nigeria, thank you for your patience, your resilience, and your unyielding commitment to excellence. You are the backbone of our nation’s progress, and your impact will continue to resonate for generations,” Abiru stated.
Highlighting his contributions to the education sector, Abiru noted that his foundation, The SAIL Empowerment Foundation, has continued to prioritise teacher development and digital innovation.
Through The SAIL Teachers’ Fellowship, he said, more than 6,400 teachers have been trained in modern teaching methodologies such as Inquiry-Based Learning, designed to improve classroom engagement and critical thinking among students.
He also spotlighted the work of the SAIL Innovation Lab in Ipakodo, where public school students are being introduced to emerging technologies including 3D design, robotics, data science, digital creativity and advanced digital marketing part of efforts to prepare young Nigerians for the future of work.
Beyond digital empowerment, the Senator revealed that his constituency projects also include the construction and renovation of schools across Lagos East, aimed at expanding access to quality education and creating conducive learning environments.
Abiru reiterated his commitment to continuous investment in education and teacher welfare, noting that the strength of Nigeria’s human capital depends on the quality and motivation of its educators.
World Teachers’ Day, celebrated annually on October 5, provides an opportunity to recognise the invaluable role of teachers in driving learning, innovation, and national development.
