The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has once again demonstrated its swift response capacity after rescuing a mentally distressed woman following a distress call from concerned citizens.

EpeInsights gathered that the woman, who appeared well-dressed, had taken an Uber ride from Lekki to the Panti Police Station, where she reportedly attempted to lodge a complaint against the sun.

Her unusual behaviour drew public attention, prompting a social media report that quickly reached the Ministry through Instagram.

Acting on the tip, the Ministry’s Rescue Team immediately intervened and safely took the woman to one of the Lagos State–owned rehabilitation centres, where she is currently receiving comprehensive medical and psychological care.

Commending the team’s professionalism and speed, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, praised their prompt response and compassion in handling the situation.

> “Our rescue officers remain committed to responding swiftly to any case of distress. Every life matters, and we’ll continue to prioritize the well-being of vulnerable individuals across Lagos,”
Mobolaji Ogunlende, Commissioner for Youth and Social Development

In a similar vein, the Permanent Secretary, Pharm. (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, urged Lagos residents to be proactive in reporting cases that could threaten lives or safety.

Reaffirming the Ministry’s “See Something, Say Something” policy, she encouraged the public to contact the Ministry through its emergency line **0913 205 5075** whenever such incidents occur.

“Your call could save a life. We all have a collective duty to protect one another,”

The Lagos State Government continues to strengthen its community response system to ensure timely intervention in mental health and social welfare cases.

The collaboration between citizens and the Ministry especially through digital platforms reflects the government’s commitment to building a responsive and humane social service network across the state.
