APC’s Anomo Clinches Second Term in Ikosi-Ejinrin Unopposed, Citing Grassroots Achievements

Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo has been re-elected as Chairman of the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA) under the All Progressives Congress (APC), following an uncontested election in which he secured 18,508 votes.

EpeInsights reports that the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) formally announced the results Saturday evening, affirming the mandate for both Anomo and his Vice Chairman running mate, Alhaji Wasiu Oluwole Dehinsilu, to serve a second term.

In a rare show of political consensus, all six traditional rulers within the LCDA jointly endorsed Anomo and Dehinsilu ahead of the polls, going as far as purchasing their nomination forms—a symbolic gesture reflecting broad-based local support.

Political observers have credited Anomo’s popularity to notable achievements during his first term, particularly in the areas of primary healthcare, educational upgrades, rural electrification, and economic empowerment. His signature “Okoowo Anomo” initiative, designed to support small businesses and traders, was frequently mentioned by stakeholders at the collation centre as a driver of grassroots engagement.

Despite running unchallenged, Anomo’s re-election was marked by significant voter turnout across all six wards—an indication, analysts say, of the APC’s dominance in the region and voter confidence in the council’s performance.

In his post-election remarks, Anomo expressed gratitude to residents and praised LASIEC for the smooth conduct of the elections.

“This victory belongs to the people,” he said.

“It’s a vote for continuity, accountability, and progress. I am deeply honoured and rededicate myself to doing even more in this second term, by Allah’s grace.”

Celebrations broke out in various communities across Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA following the announcement, with residents viewing the outcome as a renewed commitment to local development, infrastructure improvement, and inclusive governance.

The APC continues to maintain a strong foothold across Lagos State, with several uncontested seats recorded during this cycle of the local government elections.
