The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, on Thursday, June 25, 2025, arraigned Oluwadahunsola Taiwo before Justice O.A. Okunuga of the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja.
EpeInsights learnt that Taiwo, along with his company, Green Eagles Agribusiness Solution Limited, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money under false pretence.
According to the EFCC, the defendant allegedly received a total sum of ₦11,260,000 from a petitioner, Adepoju Idowu, between February and October 2020, under the guise of investing in various agribusiness projects with promised high returns.
The petitioner alleged that he invested: ₦1.5 million in a vegetable potpourri plantation in February 2020 with a promised 30% return every three months, ₦1.06 million in a rice farming project in April 2020, with a 40% return every six months, ₦4.9 million in October 2020 for a one-year Green Wealth Project at 30% annual return and ₦4.9 million for a three-year Green Wealth Project, also at 30% annual return.
All payments were made into the company’s First Bank account. However, the petitioner claimed that none of the promised returns were delivered, and all attempts to reach the defendant failed.
One of the charges reads:
“That you, OLUWADAJUNSOLA TAIWO and GREEN EAGLES AGRIBUSINESS SOLUTION LIMITED, between February and October, 2020, in Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly converted to your own use an aggregate sum of ₦11,260,000.00, property of Adepoju Idowu, thereby committing an offence of stealing, contrary to Section 285 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”
Taiwo pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Following the plea, EFCC counsel R.A. Abdulrasheed requested that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility pending trial. Justice Okunuga granted the request and adjourned the case to October 23, 2025, for commencement of trial.
