Hon. (Engr.) Abiola Okanlawon Olowu, FNSE, has engaged youths in Ward F of Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I during a meeting hosted by the Ward F OKL Youth Movement at the APC Oribanwa Secretariat.
Epe Insights reports that the engagement brought together youths from Oribanwa, Kajola, Lakowe and other communities within Ward F for discussions around representation, employment opportunities, skills development and community needs.
Olowu, who is the APC candidate for Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly election, used the gathering to outline areas he said would receive attention under his proposed representation.
The meeting was presented by organisers as a ward-level engagement with young people and other supporters ahead of the forthcoming election.
Addressing participants, Olowu said Ibeju-Lekki requires representation that understands the economic activities taking place across the constituency.
He said the presence of major investments in the area should be accompanied by opportunities that enable residents, particularly young people, to participate in the emerging economy.
Olowu identified skills acquisition, employment linkages, support for small businesses and community infrastructure among the areas he intends to prioritise if elected.
According to him, young people should be adequately prepared to take advantage of employment opportunities connected to businesses and industries operating within Ibeju-Lekki.
He also spoke about the need for stronger connections between local businesses and larger industries operating within the constituency.
Olowu said such linkages could create opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs to participate in supply chains associated with major investments.
He further told the youths that his proposed agenda would include legislative representation focused on issues affecting communities across Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I.
The engagement also provided an opportunity for participants to interact directly with the House of Assembly candidate and discuss issues affecting their communities.
Olowu said his proposed approach would focus on practical solutions to challenges facing residents rather than relying solely on political promises.
He specifically identified youth empowerment as an area requiring sustained attention within the constituency.
The candidate said skills development could help young people improve their prospects for employment and entrepreneurship.
He also linked youth empowerment with the wider economic transformation taking place in Ibeju-Lekki.
The constituency hosts major industrial and infrastructure developments, making employment, local enterprise and community participation recurring issues in public discussions.
Olowu said representation should seek ways of connecting residents with opportunities arising from such developments.
The Ward F engagement formed part of his wider interaction with communities and groups across Ibeju-Lekki Constituency I.
In recent weeks, Olowu has also participated in community engagements and development-related activities within the constituency. Epe Insights previously reported his facilitation of a 500KVA transformer intervention for residents of Ibaoloja Road, Ibeju Agbe.
At the Ward F meeting, organisers also highlighted what they described as Olowu’s previous community support outside elected office.
Speaking on behalf of the Ward F youth movement, the coordinator said the group was interested in candidates who understand both professional and grassroots concerns.
The coordinator expressed support for Olowu’s aspiration to represent the constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The statement reflected the position of the youth movement and was not presented as an independent assessment of Olowu’s record.
Olowu, an engineer by profession, told the gathering that his proposed legislative agenda would focus on practical interventions that could benefit constituents.
He said employment linkages, skills acquisition and community infrastructure would form part of his priorities.
