Epe Insights reports that the presentation took place during the inauguration of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ikosi-Ejinrin executives, alongside a farmers’ empowerment programme and exhibition of agricultural produce.

Two traditional rulers graced the occasion and participated in the decoration of the council chairman.

They were the Alayandelu of Odo-Ayandelu Kingdom, HRM Oba (Bldr.) Aderibigbe Asunmo, and the Abowa of Agbowa-Ikosi Kingdom, HRM Oba Owolabi Saheed Momson.

The AFAN National Secretary also supported the presentation and decoration of the council chairman.

The event brought together farmers, agricultural stakeholders, traditional rulers and other community leaders to celebrate agricultural development in Ikosi-Ejinrin.

Speaking at the occasion, the Lagos State Chairman of AFAN, Mr. Sakin Agbayewa, commended Anomo for his support and investment in farmers across the LCDA.

Agbayewa expressed surprise at the level of support provided by the council chairman during the inauguration of the AFAN executives.

He said he had witnessed the inauguration of AFAN executives across 47 local governments in Lagos State but described Anomo’s intervention as exceptional.

According to him, Anomo became the first chairman he had encountered to combine an AFAN inauguration with direct empowerment for farmers.

Agbayewa described the gesture as unprecedented and praised the council chairman for his commitment to agricultural development.

He also expressed appreciation to the Anomo administration for its support for farmers in Ikosi-Ejinrin.

The AFAN state chairman said the investment demonstrated a genuine interest in improving the conditions of farmers within the LCDA.

He urged stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives that strengthen agriculture and promote food production.

In his remarks, Anomo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to agricultural development and the advancement of farmers across Ikosi-Ejinrin.

The chairman noted that agriculture remains particularly important to the LCDA because of its strong agricultural identity.

He stressed the need to encourage farmers engaged in different areas of agricultural production.

Anomo said his administration was aware of the challenges confronting farmers and was determined to provide support within its capacity.

He explained that the farmers’ empowerment programme was designed to complement agricultural initiatives of the Federal Government and Lagos State Government.

According to him, the intervention aligns with the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu towards agricultural sustainability and food security.

The chairman said grassroots administrations also have a responsibility to support broader government efforts in the agricultural sector.

He maintained that local interventions could help address some of the challenges faced by farmers in their communities.

Anomo further reaffirmed that the progress of agriculture and farmers would remain an important priority of his administration.

He said the council would continue to explore ways to support agricultural activities and strengthen the local farming community.

The chairman also noted that empowering farmers could contribute to improved food production and economic opportunities within Ikosi-Ejinrin.

The exhibition of agricultural produce provided farmers with an opportunity to display their products and showcase the potential of the agricultural sector in the area.

The event also highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, farmers’ associations and traditional institutions.

The participation of the royal fathers further demonstrated the community’s interest in agricultural development.

Anomo thanked AFAN and other stakeholders for their partnership and support for the agricultural initiatives of the LCDA.

He expressed confidence that continued cooperation would contribute to stronger agricultural activities across Ikosi-Ejinrin.

The empowerment programme formed a major highlight of the event and reinforced the council’s stated commitment to supporting farmers.

The AFAN inauguration also provided an avenue for strengthening the association’s structure within the LCDA.

With agriculture playing a significant role in Ikosi-Ejinrin, stakeholders expressed optimism about continued support for farmers.

Anomo reiterated that his administration would continue to encourage agricultural activities as part of its development agenda.

He also emphasised the need for sustainable approaches that can improve food production and strengthen livelihoods.

The event concluded with renewed calls for collaboration among government, farmers and other agricultural stakeholders.

The recognition accorded to Anomo further reflected the appreciation expressed by AFAN for his support for farmers.
