Eredo LCDA Intensifies Clean-Up as Akinloye Supervises Sanitation Exercise

Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, has led top council officials on a comprehensive monitoring tour of the June edition of the Lagos State Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise across the council area.

Epe Insights reports that the chairman was accompanied by councillors, supervisors, management staff and other government officials to assess sanitation activities and reinforce the council’s commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health.

The monitoring exercise covered strategic locations across Eredo LCDA, where environmental officers carried out waste evacuation, sanitation inspections and compliance monitoring.

To ensure efficient waste disposal, the council deployed refuse compactors to identified black spots for the immediate evacuation of accumulated refuse and the prevention of indiscriminate dumping.

The intervention formed part of ongoing efforts to improve environmental hygiene, maintain cleaner public spaces and support the Lagos State Government’s environmental sustainability agenda.

During the inspection, Hon. Akinloye commended environmental personnel for their dedication and urged them to sustain the momentum in keeping communities clean and healthy.

He reiterated that environmental sanitation remains one of the key priorities of his administration, stressing that proper waste management is essential to protecting public health and preserving the environment.

According to the chairman, a cleaner environment reduces the risk of disease outbreaks, prevents flooding caused by blocked drainage systems and improves the overall quality of life for residents.

He called on residents to embrace environmental cleanliness as a daily responsibility rather than limiting sanitation efforts to the monthly exercise.

The chairman also urged households, business owners and community groups to dispose of waste responsibly and comply with environmental regulations designed to keep the council area clean.

Residents were encouraged to support government efforts by maintaining clean surroundings, clearing drainage channels and discouraging indiscriminate refuse disposal within their communities.

The administration reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening waste management through regular sanitation exercises, continuous environmental monitoring and public awareness campaigns.

Community leaders welcomed the council’s proactive approach, noting that sustained environmental interventions have contributed to cleaner neighbourhoods and improved sanitation standards across Eredo LCDA.

The June sanitation exercise reflects the determination of the Akinloye administration to build a cleaner, healthier and safer Eredo LCDA through effective environmental management and active community participation.

The council expressed optimism that continued cooperation between residents and government would further strengthen environmental sustainability and promote healthier living conditions throughout the local government area.
