Residents of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have been urged to actively participate in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise taking place today, Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Epe Insights reports that the sanitation exercise is being conducted in line with the directive of the Lagos State Government as part of ongoing efforts to promote a cleaner, healthier and safer environment across communities.
The council called on residents to clean their homes, business premises, drainage channels and surrounding areas to improve environmental hygiene and reduce health risks associated with poor sanitation.
Residents were also advised to dispose of waste through approved channels and avoid indiscriminate dumping of refuse, which contributes to blocked drains and flooding during the rainy season.
The monthly sanitation exercise is expected to improve public health by reducing the spread of diseases linked to unclean environments while encouraging residents to adopt healthy sanitation practices.
Lekki LCDA stressed that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of individuals, families, businesses and community organisations.
The council noted that clean surroundings contribute to healthier communities, safer neighbourhoods and a more attractive environment for residents, visitors and investors.

Authorities encouraged households to clear blocked gutters and ensure that drainage channels remain free of debris to support the free flow of rainwater and minimise flooding.
The sanitation campaign also forms part of broader efforts by the council to strengthen environmental sustainability and improve the quality of life across the local government area.
Community leaders and residents have been urged to support the initiative by promoting environmental awareness and encouraging compliance within their respective neighbourhoods.
Environmental experts continue to emphasise that regular sanitation exercises play an important role in preventing outbreaks of communicable diseases, protecting public health and preserving the environment.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with residents in maintaining a clean and healthy Lekki LCDA, noting that environmental sanitation remains a key pillar of sustainable community development.
Residents are encouraged to see the monthly exercise as more than a routine activity but as a civic responsibility that contributes to building cleaner, flood-free and more resilient communities for present and future generations.
