The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has strengthened efforts to maintain peace and security with a strategic engagement involving key stakeholders across the council area.
Epe Insights reports that the security meeting brought together traditional rulers, hotel operators, school proprietors, Community Development Associations (CDAs), community leaders, and residents to discuss measures aimed at sustaining safety in Ibeju-Lekki.
The gathering also featured representatives of major security agencies, including the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC).
Addressing participants, Olowa emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding lives and property. He noted that security remains a shared duty requiring active cooperation between residents and security institutions.
The chairman expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their commitment to protecting the peace and stability that have continued to support growth and development within the local government.
He urged residents to remain alert and observant, particularly amid recent concerns and reports circulating in some communities regarding unfamiliar individuals.

Olowa advised residents to promptly report suspicious activities to relevant authorities rather than taking independent actions that could escalate tensions or undermine public order.
According to him, effective communication between residents and security agencies remains one of the most reliable tools for crime prevention and community safety.
The chairman also directed hotel owners and operators to strengthen record-keeping procedures by ensuring proper documentation of guests and visitors.
He explained that accurate registration processes would support intelligence gathering and improve the ability of security agencies to monitor activities within the area.
Speaking at the meeting, the Paramount Ruler of Ibeju-Agbe and Onibeju of Ibeju, Oba Waliu Olasunkanmi Oguntolu, called on residents to remain vigilant and conscious of developments within their communities.
The monarch encouraged community members to pay attention to new arrivals and report any suspicious behaviour through lawful channels.
Oba Oguntolu commended security agencies for their dedication and sacrifices in maintaining peace across Ibeju-Lekki despite growing security challenges in different parts of the country.

He stressed the need for continuous collaboration between traditional institutions, community leaders, and security agencies to strengthen local security networks.
Participants at the meeting agreed on the importance of community-based security initiatives and information sharing as essential tools for preventing crime and maintaining stability.
Stakeholders also emphasized the need for residents to avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing fear, confusion, or unnecessary panic.
The engagement further highlighted the local government’s commitment to proactive security management and stakeholder participation in governance.
Observers described the meeting as a timely intervention aimed at reinforcing public confidence and promoting stronger partnerships between residents and security agencies.
The meeting ended with renewed commitments from stakeholders to work together in preserving the peaceful environment that continues to make Ibeju-Lekki one of Lagos State’s fastest-growing communities.
