The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has announced free transportation for indigenous Muslim residents travelling home for the Eid al-Kabir celebration.

Epe Insights reports that the initiative was introduced by the administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa to support residents ahead of the 2026 Ileya festivities.

The council stated that free buses will be available on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, to ease transportation challenges during the festive period.

According to the local government, the initiative is aimed at assisting residents travelling within the community for the Sallah celebration.

Officials explained that buses will depart from CMS Bus Stop and Ikorodu Garage at scheduled intervals throughout the day.

At CMS Bus Stop, the first trip is scheduled for 10:00am, followed by additional departures at 12:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, and 5:00pm.

For residents boarding at Ikorodu Garage, trips will commence at 10:00am, while other departures are fixed for 12:00pm and 3:00pm.

The council disclosed that Akodo Bus Stop will serve as the final drop-off point for passengers using the free transport service.

Community members welcomed the development, describing it as timely support for families preparing for the Eid celebration.

Several residents commended the council chairman for introducing measures aimed at reducing transportation costs during festive periods.

Some beneficiaries noted that the initiative would ease movement for many families returning to celebrate with loved ones.

Residents also described the gesture as part of ongoing efforts by the local government to improve community welfare and social support.

Local stakeholders praised the initiative, noting that transportation costs often increase during festive seasons across Lagos State.

They added that providing free buses would help many residents avoid the financial burden associated with holiday travel.
