The Lagos State Government has called for dialogue and due process in resolving grievances surrounding the approved mining site allocated to Hitech Construction Company Limited in Ibeju-Lekki.

Epe Insights reports that the clarification was made through the Special Adviser on Mineral Resources, Hon. (Engr.) Abiola Olowu, following concerns raised over compensation and farmland issues linked to the project site.

According to the government, the mining location was duly approved after extensive stakeholder engagement coordinated by His Royal Majesty, the Onibeju of Ibeju Kingdom, alongside community representatives and relevant authorities.

The state government explained that any complaint relating to compensation, land concerns, or the welfare of affected indigenes should be formally documented through petitions and lawful engagement with appropriate agencies.

Officials noted that the Onibeju had already directed the Community Development Committee Chairman to submit complaints in writing while copying the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for necessary action and investigation.

The government stressed that dialogue remains the proper channel for addressing disputes involving developmental projects and community interests within Lagos State.

Authorities warned that confrontations at designated mining sites could threaten peace, endanger lives, and discourage investors from participating in ongoing development initiatives across the state.

The statement emphasized that Lagos State continues to position itself as a destination for infrastructure growth and investment, making peaceful engagement critical to sustainable progress.

Government representatives also stated that Community Development Committees are expected to serve as a bridge between government institutions and grassroots communities.

According to the state, CDC leadership should prioritize peacebuilding, documentation, and lawful communication instead of actions capable of escalating tensions within host communities.

The government further expressed concern over reports of altercations involving security personnel at the site, describing such incidents as avoidable and harmful to community stability.

Officials reiterated that disputes involving development projects should never degenerate into physical confrontations or activities capable of attracting security interventions.

The Lagos State Government commended Hon. Abiola Olowu for his intervention and proactive engagement with stakeholders following the incident.

The Special Adviser was praised for consulting with the Onibeju of Ibeju Kingdom, engaging community representatives, and ensuring that concerns raised by parties involved were properly addressed.

Government sources also noted that assurances were given regarding medical support and welfare for individuals reportedly affected during the incident while investigations continue.

Stakeholders within the community have continued to call for transparency, fairness, and peaceful communication between developers, government authorities, and affected residents.

Observers believe the development highlights the importance of balancing infrastructure expansion with community participation and proper compensation procedures.

Residents have also urged all parties involved to maintain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations to ensure peaceful resolution of the matter.

The state government reaffirmed its commitment to lawful engagement, sustainable development, and the protection of both community interests and investor confidence in Lagos State.
