Hon. Olowa Hosts Women Empowerment Programme Team

Hon.  Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has hosted officials of the Nigeria for Women Program Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) in a strategic engagement focused on women development.

Epe Insights reports that the visiting team, led by Oluwatoyin Salaam, briefed the council on the scope and objectives of the initiative designed to improve women’s economic capacity nationwide.

The meeting brought together lawmakers, supervisors, and senior council officials. It created a platform for dialogue on programme implementation at the grassroots level.

According to the delegation, the programme is a Federal Government intervention. It is aimed at empowering women involved in small-scale businesses and trade.

The initiative has been adopted in Lagos State through the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. It follows policy direction from Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

 Empowerment

Ibeju-Lekki has been selected as one of the pilot councils. The rollout will also take place in Alimosho and Apapa.

A team representative, Dr Ahmed, explained that the programme targets women aged 18 and above. Beneficiaries will be grouped into structured clusters.

These clusters, known as Women Affinity Groups, are designed to support collaboration. They also aim to enhance access to opportunities.

The programme encourages inclusivity. Participation is open to women regardless of background or social status.

Expected outcomes include increased income levels. Improved welfare for families is also a major goal.

In his remarks, Olowa commended the initiative. He acknowledged the leadership of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in advancing such programmes.

He also praised the Lagos State Government for local implementation. He described the initiative as impactful for community growth.

Olowa stated that the programme aligns with his administration’s priorities. Women empowerment remains central to his development agenda.

He assured the delegation of full cooperation. The council is prepared to support successful execution of the programme.
