The Supervisor for Education and Library Services in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Sodiq Agbaje, has begun a familiarization tour of key education offices in the council area as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots education delivery.

Epe Insights reports that the tour started at the Local Government Education Authority office in Ibeju-Agbe, where Agbaje engaged with education officials and stakeholders on improving school administration and services.

The visit forms part of the broader agenda of the administration of the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, aimed at strengthening the education sector across communities in the council area.

Agbaje was accompanied on the visit by the Head of Department for Education, Mrs. Ganiat Belo, as the team met with staff and education officers at the education authority office.

The familiarization tour is designed to provide the new supervisor with firsthand insight into the operations of the education authority and the challenges facing public schools in the area.

Officials said the visit also creates an opportunity to evaluate ongoing education programmes and identify areas requiring urgent intervention.

During the meeting, Agbaje held discussions with the Executive Secretary of the education authority, W. Onibeju, alongside other officers responsible for managing primary education in the district.

The discussions focused on key issues affecting schools, including teacher welfare, infrastructure needs, and strategies to improve student enrollment.

Participants also explored ways to strengthen library services and learning resources to enhance teaching and academic performance among pupils.

Education officers highlighted the need for sustained investment in school facilities to match the rapid development and population growth in the Ibeju-Lekki corridor.

The corridor has witnessed significant expansion due to industrial and residential developments, placing increasing demand on public education infrastructure.

Officials at the meeting stressed that effective collaboration between the local government and education administrators is essential for delivering quality education to children in the area.

Agbaje assured stakeholders that the council remains committed to supporting policies and initiatives that improve teaching and learning conditions in public schools.

He emphasized that the familiarization tour will help the education department identify practical solutions to challenges affecting schools across the local government area.

The supervisor also reaffirmed the commitment of the Olowa administration to strengthening education as a critical component of social development.

The local government has repeatedly identified education as a key pillar within its broader development agenda.

This agenda also includes infrastructural development, economic growth, and improved social services for residents.

Officials say the familiarization tour will continue across other education offices and schools within the local government area.

The initiative is expected to strengthen coordination between the council and education administrators while promoting improved learning outcomes for students.

For education stakeholders in Ibeju-Lekki, the engagement marks an important step toward building a stronger and more responsive education system in the community.
