The Olulade family has hosted its first Annual Ramadan Lecture and Iftar in memory of their late parents, Chief Sufian Olulade and Chief (Mrs.) Fatima Olulade, at the family compound in Ago Ijesha, Ejinrin, Epe area of Lagos State.

Epe Insights reports that the event attracted Islamic scholars, community leaders, political figures and residents who gathered for prayers, reflection and discussions on community development from an Islamic perspective.

The spiritual gathering served as a moment of remembrance for the late parents while promoting unity and reflection during the holy month of Ramadan.

Participants also used the occasion to pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased and for continued peace and progress within the community.

The lecture was titled “The Impact of the Family, Youths, and Community Leaders Towards the Growth and Development of Their Community: Islamic Perspective.”

It was delivered by Nosiru Olajide Onibon, Associate Professor and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED).

During his presentation, the scholar emphasised the importance of family values in shaping responsible individuals and building strong communities.

He noted that parents play a critical role in guiding and protecting their children, especially in a time when modern influences continue to reshape social interactions.

The lecturer warned parents about the excessive influence of social media on families and children.

According to him, uncontrolled exposure to digital platforms can negatively affect moral values and behaviour among young people.

He urged parents to closely monitor their children’s online activities and ensure that family values remain a guiding principle in their upbringing.

The scholar also encouraged parents to invest more time in nurturing their children through proper education, moral guidance and spiritual teachings.

He noted that families remain the first institution where discipline, respect and responsibility are cultivated.

Addressing youths at the event, he urged them to avoid greed and focus on honest and productive ways of achieving success.

He emphasized that integrity, patience and hard work are essential virtues for anyone seeking lasting achievements in life.

The lecturer further called on community leaders to play active roles in mentoring young people and promoting social harmony.

He explained that collective efforts from families, youths and leaders are necessary to achieve sustainable development in communities.
