The Eko Social Health Alliance (EKOSHA) has held a town hall meeting at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat, where beneficiaries shared testimonials on the life-changing impact of the health insurance scheme across Epe Division.

Epe Insights reports that the event, organised in collaboration with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) and Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, brought together residents, community leaders, healthcare providers, and government officials to review progress and strengthen public confidence in the scheme.

Welcoming participants, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and Chairman, Conference 57 League of Chairmen, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his vision of accessible and inclusive health insurance for all Lagosians.

Hon. Olowa highlighted EKOSHA’s role in subsidising coverage for vulnerable residents through the Ilera Eko platform, noting that his administration had previously sponsored 1,000 residents under the scheme to expand access to quality healthcare.

He also praised the Permanent Secretary of LASHMA, Dr. (Mrs.) Emmanuella Zamba reaffirms Ibeju-Lekki’s strong partnership with the agency to deepen health insurance enrollment in the area.

During the interactive session, beneficiaries shared personal stories of how EKOSHA reduced healthcare costs and improved access to timely medical care.

A resident from a rural Ibeju-Lekki community described the scheme as a “lifesaver,” explaining that it enabled treatment for a chronic illness without financial hardship.

Another beneficiary, a mother, expressed gratitude for free consultations, medications, and hospital admissions that supported her child’s health needs.

Representatives of LASHMA noted that town hall engagements help build trust, encourage enrollment, and provide feedback to improve service delivery.

Dignitaries at the event included His Royal Majesty, Oba Lukman Arowolo, the Gbadewolu of Araromi Kingdom, community leaders, and health sector stakeholders.
