The Oloja of Epe Land, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun, has officially announced the commencement of the 2026 Eebi Festival, a major cultural celebration deeply rooted in the heritage of Epe, Lagos State.

Epe Insights reports that the festival will begin with a traditional cleansing exercise scheduled to take place from 4:00 p.m. on Friday until 6:00 a.m. the following day, marking a symbolic period of spiritual purification ahead of the main festivities.

As part of the ritual activities, the Itaopo–Itamarun route will be temporarily closed to vehicular and pedestrian movement during the exercise to ensure compliance with traditional rites and safety.

The monarch advised residents and visitors to make use of the alternative marine route linking Ayetoro to Itamarun throughout the period of the temporary closure.

Oba Animashaun called on the public to cooperate fully with traditional authorities, stressing that the exercise is a vital aspect of the festival and must be observed with respect and patience.

He emphasised that the Eebi Festival represents a significant pillar of Epe’s cultural identity, serving as a unifying force for indigenes and promoting the preservation of age-long traditions.

Residents were urged to observe all traditional guidelines and conduct themselves peacefully to ensure the success of the festival activities.

The Oloja further noted that the annual Eebi Festival continues to strengthen communal bonds, promote harmony, and celebrate the rich customs passed down through generations in Epe Land.

He reassured the public that all necessary traditional arrangements are in place to guarantee a smooth and successful celebration.

The 2026 Eebi Festival is expected to attract cultural enthusiasts and indigenes, reaffirming Epe’s status as a hub of rich Yoruba tradition and heritage.
