Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has commenced a free National Identification Number (NIN) registration exercise for residents, as part of efforts to promote inclusive access to national identification.

Epe Insights reports that the registration exercise officially began today at 10:00 am and is being conducted at designated registration points within the council area.

The council stated that the initiative is completely free of charge, removing financial barriers and ensuring that all eligible residents can conveniently enrol for their NIN.

According to Eredo LCDA, the exercise is designed to support proper documentation and inclusion of residents in the national database, in line with federal identification requirements.

Residents who have not yet registered were encouraged to participate promptly and come along with the required documents to facilitate a smooth and efficient enrollment process.

The council emphasised that possessing a NIN is now essential for accessing a wide range of government services, financial platforms, telecommunications services, and official transactions nationwide.

Officials further noted that the exercise underscores the council’s commitment to good governance, civic responsibility, and ensuring that no resident is left behind in national programmes.

Eredo LCDA urged residents to take full advantage of the opportunity, stressing that proper identification is critical for personal security, planning, and socio-economic participation.

The council reaffirmed its dedication to initiatives that directly benefit residents and improve access to essential services at the grassroots level.
