Hon. Murtain Abiodun Tobun, member representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has reaffirmed his commitment to transparent leadership while addressing key electricity and traffic challenges affecting residents of Epe.
Epe Insights reports that the lawmaker gave the assurance during a working engagement at his office in the Assembly Complex, where he provided updates on ongoing efforts to achieve stable power supply and improve traffic management within the community.
Hon. Tobun explained that the electricity challenges facing Epe are being tackled through three strategic options designed to deliver long-term stability and reliability.
He disclosed that the first option involves connecting Epe to the Ikorodu power source through the installation of a 133KVA step-down facility, which would significantly boost supply capacity.
According to him, the second option is a dedicated power line project being executed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy, running from Ijebu-Ode to Epe.
“The project is already ongoing and is expected to be completed within 90 days,” Tobun stated, assuring residents of visible progress.
The lawmaker further revealed that plans are underway for an Independent Power Project exclusively for Epe, adding that the proposal has reached the Lagos State Government and is receiving serious attention.
He noted that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been fully briefed on the initiative, expressing optimism that it would provide a lasting solution to power supply issues.
Beyond electricity, Hon. Tobun addressed traffic concerns, confirming that faulty traffic lights would have their batteries replaced, while junction improvement works are planned for the Ita-Marun axis to ease congestion.
He assured constituents that electricity restoration efforts are ongoing and will be completed soon, reaffirming his dedication to responsive governance and improved living conditions in Epe.
