Epe Local Government has commenced its Quarterly Environmental Fumigation Exercise as part of sustained efforts to safeguard public health and promote environmental cleanliness across the council area.
Epe Insights reports that the exercise is scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, and Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and will cover key public spaces, including schools, primary health centres (PHCs), markets, motor parks, and other high-traffic areas within Epe.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the spread of disease-causing vectors such as mosquitoes, rodents, and other pests, particularly ahead of the New Year festivities when population movement and activities are expected to increase.
Speaking on the programme, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. (Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun, FHTI, reiterated her administration’s commitment to environmental sanitation and preventive healthcare as core pillars of governance.

She described regular fumigation as a proactive approach to public health management, noting that preventing outbreaks remains more effective and cost-efficient than responding to emergencies after diseases have spread.
According to the council boss, the exercise aligns with the local government’s broader strategy to ensure a clean, healthy, and productive environment for residents, traders, commuters, and visitors to the area.
She urged residents to cooperate with fumigation teams, adhere to safety guidelines during the exercise, and continue to support government efforts by maintaining proper hygiene and environmental cleanliness in their surroundings.
The Chairman further assured that the council would sustain routine environmental interventions as part of its responsibility to protect lives and enhance the overall well-being of the people of Epe.
Residents have been advised to remain calm during the exercise and to report any environmental health concerns to the relevant authorities for prompt attention.
