The Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area has presented a comprehensive 2026 budget proposal, outlining achievements recorded in the outgoing year and setting a clear roadmap for sustained development.

He noted that the backing of the state leadership has played a critical role in the execution of landmark projects across Eredo LCDA.

In his address, the Chairman disclosed that his administration has successfully completed more than 90 per cent of the projects outlined for the current year. He explained that significant progress has been recorded in key areas, including road construction and rehabilitation, which have improved connectivity and eased transportation challenges within the LCDA.

He also highlighted the delivery of new school buildings and upgrades to existing educational facilities, aimed at creating a more conducive learning environment for pupils.

According to him, the health sector has equally benefited from focused interventions, particularly through the upgrade of Primary Healthcare Centres to improve access to quality medical services at the grassroots.

He added that youth engagement initiatives, sports development programmes, and empowerment schemes for women and young people have been prioritised to promote inclusion, skills development, and economic self-reliance.

The Chairman explained that these achievements reflect his administration’s commitment to balanced development and people-oriented governance. He stated that the success recorded so far has further strengthened the resolve of the council to do more in the coming year.

Speaking on the 2026 fiscal proposal, he revealed that the budget is themed “Catalyst for Change Towards Renewed Hope Agenda.” According to him, the proposed budget is designed to consolidate ongoing projects while expanding investments in critical sectors that directly impact residents’ quality of life.

These sectors include public service delivery, safety and security, economic development, environmental management, healthcare, education, and social protection.

He emphasised that the implementation of the 2026 budget will be guided by strict financial discipline, transparency, and accountability.

The Chairman assured stakeholders that funds generated from Internally Generated Revenue, statutory allocations, and development grants would be judiciously utilised to ensure value for money and sustainable outcomes.

Responding on behalf of the Legislative Arm, the Leader of the House, Hon. Tunde Bakare Olowo, commended the Chairman for what he described as impressive and visible achievements across the LCDA.

He particularly praised the administration’s performance in infrastructure development, education, healthcare delivery, security initiatives, and environmental sanitation.

Hon. Bakare also expressed appreciation for the construction of a modern legislative building and the provision of fully equipped offices for councillors, noting that the gesture has enhanced legislative efficiency and working conditions.

He pledged the full cooperation of the Legislative Arm in ensuring smooth governance and effective service delivery.

In his assurance, the House Leader stated that the proposed 2026 budget would receive accelerated consideration, including timely readings and passage, in the overall interest of Eredo LCDA residents.

In line with established legislative procedures, Hon. Akinloye formally presented the financial document to the Clerk of the House, Mr. Bolanle Badmus. The Clerk subsequently transmitted the budget proposal to the Leader of the House for further legislative action and scrutiny.

The presentation of the 2026 budget marks another significant step in Eredo LCDA’s governance process, reflecting a continued focus on development, accountability, and improved living standards for residents.
