Hon.. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, on 9th December 2025, officially presented the 2026 Budget, themed Budget of Renewed and Resilient Development, at the Legislative Council Chamber. The event drew traditional rulers, chiefs, community leaders, stakeholders, and legislators.
Epe Insights reports that the presentation highlighted the local government’s focus on strategic growth, inclusive governance, and sustainable development. The Leader of the 10th Legislative Council, Hon. Olayinka Mojeed Oluwafemi, praised the Chairman for landmark achievements, including the commissioning of the Administrative Secretariat, upgrades to PHCs, school renovations, and cash transfers to vulnerable citizens.
The 2026 Appropriation Bill proposes a total budget of ₦15.17 billion, structured around the SHIEELD pillars: Security, Health, Infrastructure, Education, Environmental Sustainability, Local Economy, and Digital Governance. Major allocations include ₦5.53bn for Security, ₦3.77bn for Infrastructure, ₦1.31bn for Education, and ₦2.6bn for Digital Governance & Civic Participation.
Chairman Olowa described the budget as a strategic roadmap for Ibeju-Lekki’s rapidly growing corridor, emphasising the need for stronger infrastructure, improved services, and enhanced security. He reviewed 2025 achievements, including PHC upgrades, school rehabilitation, road construction, cash transfers, and environmental management improvements.
Mrs Senami Oluwakemi Avose, Head of Planning and Budgeting, noted that the 2026 budget is groundbreaking, funded in part by over ₦1.4 billion IGR—a historic first for the local government. She also highlighted initiatives to strengthen revenue operations and equip security agencies for effective crime detection.
Chairman Olowa reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring residents that the 2026 budget is designed to drive sustainable growth, resilience, and long-term development in Ibeju-Lekki.
