The 2025 edition of the Eredo LCDA Chairman’s Cup kicked off in a thrilling atmosphere on Saturday at St. Patrick Grammar School, Eredo, drawing football fans from across the community.
Epe Insights reports that Egiri United opened the tournament with a commanding 4–0 victory over Igbonla FC, while Ilara FC staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Omola FC 3–1, signalling a competitive start to the tournament.

The Vice Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Adesanya Lateef Olugbenga, spoke on behalf of the Executive Chairman, highlighting the importance of institutionalising the tournament as an annual event due to its popularity and positive community impact.
Adesanya explained that the tournament was designed to encourage youth unity, discipline, and constructive engagement, while also fostering sportsmanship among participants.
He assured players and spectators of fairness throughout the competition, noting that football is unpredictable and emphasising that the tournament’s goal is to strengthen relationships rather than focus solely on winning.
