The Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Security Outfit, successfully intercepted a suspected electricity cable saboteur in Itoikin Village on Monday night around 8:00 p.m.
Epe Insights reports that the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, visited the police station this morning alongside the Commander of Gbalule, Mr Raji Smart, and the Head of Epe Local Government Local Security Outfit, Commander Monday “Ibile.” The officials inspected the suspect’s parade and emphasised that all offenders would face the full weight of the law.
The suspect, identified as a Fulani man, was caught in the act while his accomplice fled the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo had already vandalised seven newly installed electric poles before the patrol team intervened. The suspect was immediately handed over to the Ketu-Ereyun Police Division for lawful prosecution.
During the arrest, one of the suspects allegedly attacked a member of the security team. The injured operative is currently receiving medical treatment, highlighting the risks faced by local security personnel in combating acts of sabotage. Anomo commended the professionalism and vigilance of the Gbalule team in preventing further damage to critical power infrastructure.
The LCDA Chairman reassured residents that the administration is working closely with IKEDC and the Ministry of Energy to ensure the swift restoration of electricity to all affected communities before the festive season. He reiterated the zero-tolerance stance of the three Epe Division Chairmen on sabotage of public utilities, stressing that such acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
