Epe Local Government Chairman, Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, has reaffirmed her commitment to youth development and girl-child empowerment as she marked her first 100 days in office with a special engagement event dedicated to young people across the community.
Epe Insights reports that the event highlighted the administration’s focus on building a new generation of leaders, innovators, and community builders. Princess Animashaun emphasised that the youth remain central to her developmental agenda, describing them as “assets of today” whose energy and creativity continue to inspire progress in Epe.
Addressing the gathering, she recalled her promise on the day she took office—to ensure that no young person is left behind in her administration. She noted that every programme, partnership, and initiative pursued so far has been designed to strengthen youth capacity through skills development, entrepreneurship support, educational sponsorship, and leadership engagement.
A key highlight of the event was the announcement of support for 100 young girls, who will receive financial assistance and mentorship aimed at shaping their future. Princess Animashaun described the initiative as an effort to “light the fire of purpose” in the girl-child, reminding them that their dreams remain valid and achievable.
“When you empower a girl, you empower a family, and when you empower a family, you empower a generation,” she said, stressing the importance of values, confidence, and strong moral foundations in nurturing young women.
She also urged the youth to embrace constructive citizenship, calling on them to engage the government with ideas and solutions rather than destructive criticism. She encouraged them to use their platforms—especially social media—for innovation, dialogue, and community development.
“Real change comes when we become part of the solution,” she said. “Let your voice inspire progress and let your creativity drive transformation.”
Princess Animashaun reaffirmed her commitment to building an Epe where every young person has the opportunity to dream and succeed. She pledged continued collaboration between the government and the youth to advance development across the local government.
“Our journey of greatness begins with us,” she said. “Together, we will build the Epe of our dreams.”
