In a move aimed at fostering inclusive governance and participatory budgeting, Ikorodu Local Government recently hosted its 2026 Stakeholders’ Meeting, bringing together traditional leaders, associations and residents to shape the council’s developmental priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.

Hon. Adedayo Abdullateef Ladega, Chairman of Ikorodu LG, described the consultative meeting as a vital platform for residents to actively contribute to the council’s budget planning.
“This forum is an opportunity for every resident to have a voice in shaping Ikorodu Local Government’s 2026 budget,” he said, emphasizing that his administration operates under the SEED Agenda — Security, Education, Enhanced Healthcare and Development.
During the meeting, Hon. Ladega highlighted the council’s achievements across multiple sectors:
- Empowerment and Economic Inclusion: Over 500 artisans, traders, women, and youths benefited from empowerment initiatives, including the distribution of sewing machines, hairdressing kits, catering sets, and mini-tractors.
- Education and Youth Engagement: Programs included free GCE registration, summer coaching classes, and initiatives to encourage youth participation in governance.
- Healthcare and Welfare: The Itoju Agba Health Scheme for senior citizens, free medical outreaches, and improved access to clean water have positively impacted communities.
- Infrastructure and Environment: Road maintenance, drainage clearing, and waste management were strengthened through the .
Hon. Ladega also noted that community engagement has been enhanced through initiatives like the IJOBA LADEGA radio program and ward-to-ward tours, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Looking ahead, the council’s 2026 agenda aims to expand healthcare access, construct new classrooms, provide more scholarships, launch entrepreneurship schemes, and strengthen community security. Hon. Ladega reaffirmed his commitment to digital governance and environmental sustainability, calling on residents to actively support government initiatives through civic participation and tax compliance.
Mrs. Adebayo Boladale, Head of the Budget Office, expressed gratitude to participants for their dedication to participatory governance. She explained that proposals gathered during the meeting would be reviewed and implemented based on priority and available resources, ensuring that government and citizen priorities align.
The session also featured goodwill messages from market leaders, artisans, religious groups, students, farmers, and persons with disabilities, many of whom praised the council’s transparent and inclusive approach. Attendees commended Hon. Ladega’s leadership as consultative, progressive, and responsive to community needs.
