Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has announced the commencement of the Second Round of the Polio Outbreak Response (OBR) campaign scheduled for Saturday, 6th December to Tuesday, 9th December 2025.
Epe Insights reports that the campaign is part of the Statewide Polio Vaccination Exercise coordinated by the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and international immunisation partners. The exercise aims to protect children from the circulating variant poliovirus type 2 (cVPV2).
According to the Office of the Executive Chairman, vaccination teams will cover all communities in Ibeju-Lekki throughout the four-day activity. Teams will conduct house-to-house visits and also reach schools, churches, mosques, and markets to ensure wide coverage.

In a statement, the Chairman’s office urged parents and guardians to present their children for vaccination, stressing that the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) is safe, free, and essential in preventing paralysis caused by poliovirus.
Health officials assured that the local government is committed to ensuring no eligible child is excluded during the exercise. They encouraged full cooperation from community members.
The Lagos State Primary Health Care Board also emphasised the need for repeated vaccination rounds, noting that poliovirus still circulates in some areas. It called for active community participation to boost immunity and protect all children.
Residents are advised to welcome the vaccination teams, support the exercise, and help spread accurate information within their neighbourhoods.
