Residents and motorists have raised serious concerns over the prolonged parking of fuel tankers and heavy-duty trucks along both sides of the Mojoda–Epe Toll Gate road.
Epe Insights reports that for several months, long queues of tankers have occupied large sections of the roadway, leaving little space for smooth vehicular movement and turning the once-busy route into a hazardous corridor, particularly during peak hours and at night.
Daily road users lament that the indiscriminate parking has worsened traffic congestion and significantly increased the risk of accidents, especially for smaller vehicles and pedestrians navigating the narrow passage left by the trucks.
Beyond traffic disruption, residents note that the constant presence of heavy-duty vehicles has caused visible damage to the road surface, weakening the infrastructure and further endangering motorists who ply the axis regularly.
Community fears are heightened by memories of a tragic accident that occurred about a year ago, when a driver reportedly crashed into a double-parked truck at the same location.
The incident claimed the life of a prominent teacher and left several others critically injured.
Property owners around the toll gate have also expressed anxiety over safety risks, warning that the concentration of fuel-laden tankers near homes, shops, and businesses poses serious threats of fire outbreaks, explosions, and environmental hazards.
Adding his voice to the outcry, the Aladeshonyin of Odo Noforija Kingdom, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja JP, has expressed deep concern over the continuous parking of fuel tankers at the Mojoda–Epe Toll Gate, urging urgent intervention to avert another tragedy.
Residents are calling on relevant authorities to enforce traffic regulations and relocate the tankers to designated parks to restore safety and order to the area.
