The Nigeria Police ForceThe Nigeria Police Force, Ketu-Ereyun Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO),CSP Kalu Chijioke, on Saturday, November 29, partnered with the Ketu-Ereyun Community in a massive sensitization walk aimed at curbing drug abuse among youths in the area.

Epe Insights reports that the awareness campaign, which drew large participation from community leaders, residents, and security stakeholders, is part of CSP Kalu’s continued effort to strengthen community policing and deepen the longstanding partnership between the police and the people of Ketu-Ereyun.

During the walk, officers from the division moved across major parts of the community, engaging residents, particularly young people on the dangers, health risks, and social consequences of drug abuse. The DPO emphasized that educating the youth remains one of the most effective ways to reduce crime and maintain a safe environment.

Speaking with EPE LAWA, the Regent of Ketu, High Chief Adewale Badru, commended CSP Kalu for his dedication, leadership, and strategic collaboration with the community. He noted that the police and community alliance has contributed significantly to reducing security threats in the area. The Regent encouraged youths to shun drugs, stressing that substance abuse destroys potential, fuels crime, and destabilizes families.

Also lending her voice, the Iyalode of Ketu-Ereyun, Chief Sola Ajayi, urged parents to be more vigilant and intentional in guiding their children. She noted that strong parental involvement can help curb drug abuse, adding that mothers, in particular, play a crucial role in shaping the values and decisions of their children.

The sensitization walk, jointly organized by the Nigeria Police and the Ketu-Ereyun Community, reinforces the power of collaboration in crime prevention. It also reflects CSP Kalu’s belief that community engagement and education offer a more sustainable way to combat drug abuse than relying solely on arrests.

The initiative further highlights the commitment of the Ketu-Ereyun Division to building a safer, healthier, and crime-free environment for residents. As community policing continues to gain momentum across Epe Division, the success of this campaign serves as a reminder that prevention, partnership, and awareness remain central to addressing drug-related challenges.
