The people of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, under the Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, marked this year’s Eid-el-Kabir with a celebration steeped in spiritual reflection, royal homage and philanthropy.

EpeInsights reports the vibrant event was hosted at the palace of the kingdom’s monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Olaogun Ogunlaja, who used the occasion to promote unity, interfaith harmony, and support for the underprivileged.

The celebration opened with an inter-religious prayer session where leaders of both Christian and Muslim communities led prayers for peace and prosperity.

Evangelist G.O. Adeboye, representing the Christian Association of Nigeria (Eredo Chapter), and Grand Chief Imam Abdul Barry Banjo of Odo-Noforija led the prayers. High Chief Segun Lawal, the Aro of Odomola Kingdom, also delivered traditional blessings invoking the protection of the ancestors.

Following the prayers, the grounds transformed into a colorful arena of cultural displays and tributes to the monarch.

Members of various royal families, traditional chiefs, social clubs, and youth organizations paraded before the king, showcasing traditional attire and paying homage.

Notable groups included the Ligbe-Oligbe-Ononlu Ogunbotu, Oke Ajana and Eyindi Ruling Houses, as well as the Progressive Excellent Women of Eredo and the Starlight Social Club.

In one of the most heartfelt moments of the day, Oba Ogunlaja presented a life ram, a bag of rice, and ₦100,000 to visually impaired students from Bethsaida School for the Blind, Lagos.

The students had earlier performed songs in appreciation of the monarch, earning a warm ovation from the crowd.

A Call for Unity and Progress

Addressing the community, Oba Ogunlaja reiterated his commitment to unity, development, and peace—not just within the kingdom, but across Nigeria.

“We are praying not only for Odo-Noforija but for the entire country,” the monarch said.

“We understand that these are difficult times. As royal fathers, we remain committed to guiding our people and supporting national progress.”

He urged residents to continue living in harmony and maintain a collective focus on development.
