The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has raided an 80-room hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, seizing a massive haul of illicit drugs worth over ₦1 billion.

EpeInsights learnt that during the raid, which took place from April 25 to 26, 2025, agents recovered 589 bags of Canadian Loud cannabis, totaling 417.3 kg.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of ₦1,042,500,000, were being distributed from the hotel, which was reportedly being used as a front for drug trafficking activities.

Three individuals—Eze Ayitu, Ofuokwu Samuel, and Emmanuel Ameh—were arrested during the operation. However, two other suspects, Noble Philip and his partner Kenneth, are still on the run.

Alongside the drugs, the NDLEA recovered several luxury items believed to be proceeds of the drug trade, including vehicles, electronics, and household appliances. These included: Toyota Prado Landcruiser Jeep, Toyota Sienna, Volkswagen Delivery Van, 74 new TV sets, 13 refrigerators, and more.

NDLEA’s Director of Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, highlighted the scale of the operation and the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat cross-border trafficking and drug-related crimes in Nigeria.NDLEA Raids Lagos Hotel, Seizes ₦1B in Drugs, Arrests 3 for Trafficking

In a separate bust, NDLEA operatives intercepted 2 million opioid pills in Jigawa and Kano. The drugs, including tramadol and pregabalin, were on their way to Niger Republic and Yobe State.

Meanwhile, in Edo State, operatives destroyed 3,814.9 kg of cannabis following a raid on two farms.

The NDLEA continues to tackle the drug trade head-on, with a series of successful seizures across the country.
