Lekki Local Council Development Area has presented a proposed ₦14.77 billion budget for the 2026 fiscal year, outlining plans to drive inclusive growth, improve security and enhance living standards across the council.

Epe Insights reports that the budget proposal was presented at the Lekki LCDA Council Chamber, with the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Musediku Ola Monsuru, Executive Chairman, Hon. Rasaq Bamidele Kasali, lawmakers, traditional rulers, political leaders and community representatives in attendance.

Presenting the proposal themed “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity,” Hon. Kasali said the 2026 budget was designed as a forward-looking framework to promote shared development and create an enabling environment for all residents.

He disclosed that the proposed budget size stands at ₦14.77 billion, with capital expenditure of ₦8.14 billion, representing about 55 percent of total spending.

According to the chairman, priority areas include road construction and rehabilitation, environmental control, security of lives and property, education and healthcare delivery.

Hon. Kasali noted that current economic realities require a more people-centred approach to governance, stressing that the welfare and interests of residents remain the administration’s top priority.

Security featured prominently in the proposal, as the chairman outlined plans to address criminal activities linked to the influx of non-residents into Lekki communities.

He revealed that the council, in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and the Ministry of Environment, has completed the first phase of removing illegal shanties along the Lekki–Dangote Refinery corridor.

Hon. Kasali added that preparations are ongoing for the second phase of the exercise to further enhance safety and environmental order in the area.

To ensure effective implementation, the chairman announced the creation of a strategy and monitoring committee to track projects and programmes under the 2026 budget.

Earlier, Hon. Musediku Ola Monsuru assured stakeholders that the legislative arm would give the proposal thorough scrutiny in the overall interest of Lekki residents.
