The Environmental Department of Lekki LCDA has cleared debris from areas affected by the recent demolition of illegal shanties, as part of ongoing efforts to improve sanitation and public safety across the council area.

Epe Insights reports that the clean-up exercise followed a directive from the Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area, Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE) aimed at restoring order and preventing environmental hazards.

The operation covered major locations, including Mosa, Lekuru, Aboki Estate, and the 700 Rooms axis, where remnants of demolished structures had created environmental and health concerns for residents.

Officials of the Environmental Department evacuated rubble, waste materials, and debris from the affected areas to ensure proper disposal and a safer environment for both pedestrians and motorists.

Speaking on the exercise, Engr. Kasali reaffirmed that environmental sanitation remains a top priority of his administration. He noted that the timely removal of debris is essential to maintaining public health and urban order.

“This administration is committed to ensuring a clean, orderly, and healthy environment for all residents,” the Chairman said, stressing that abandoned debris can encourage environmental degradation if not promptly addressed.

Residents in the affected communities welcomed the intervention, noting that the exercise has improved accessibility and reduced health risks associated with unmanaged waste.

The Lekki LCDA Environmental Department assured residents that similar sanitation and clean-up exercises would continue in other parts of the council area.

According to the department, the administration remains steadfast in its commitment to a cleaner, safer, and healthier Lekki while enforcing environmental regulations to sustain long-term public order.
