The Lagos State Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget (MEPB) has sharpened its focus for 2025 following a high-level strategic retreat aimed at recalibrating its economic roadmap and strengthening internal collaboration.
EpeInsights reports that the retreat was held under the theme “Aligning Priorities, Driving Performance: Building a Unified Team for Strategic Excellence”.
The forum brought together senior officials and stakeholders to review existing strategies, foster innovation, and align departmental goals for better governance outcomes.
Speaking at the opening session, Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, emphasized the importance of adaptability and innovation in navigating the state’s evolving economic landscape.
“This retreat is more than a meeting; it’s a chance to rethink how we deliver value to the people of Lagos,” he said. “As the state’s economic think-tank, MEPB must continue to lead with foresight, efficiency, and impact.”
The Commissioner also challenged participants to propose bold, data-driven solutions that would boost budget credibility, enhance planning processes, and position Lagos as a competitive investment hub.

Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Olayinka Ojo, provided a detailed report on the Ministry’s performance, celebrating key milestones achieved through improved budget execution. She also spotlighted the urgent need for better data governance across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), which she described as critical to smarter decision-making.
The retreat concluded with a set of actionable outcomes designed to accelerate resource optimization, policy implementation, and sustainable economic growth across the state.
As Lagos continues to navigate complex economic dynamics, the MEPB’s refined strategy is expected to drive more inclusive planning and foster long-term prosperity for its over 20 million residents.
