The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 23 teenage suspects for alleged involvement in assaults, harassment and theft targeting shops and residents in the Mushin area of the state.

EpeInsights reports that this was disclosed on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in an official statement.

According to Hundeyin, the suspects aged between 14 and 16 were apprehended on Monday during operations conducted across Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye areas of Mushin.

“The command appreciates the feedback and concerns raised by members of the community regarding the recent incidents of daylight assaults and theft committed by these individuals,” Hundeyin stated.

“These reports have informed a comprehensive review of our operational strategies.”

He noted that, in response to the growing concerns, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, had deployed additional tactical squads, Police Mobile Force personnel and conventional police teams to Mushin and surrounding areas to restore order and apprehend those involved.

“Total normalcy has now been restored to Mushin and its environs. Residents are encouraged to go about their daily activities without fear,” he added.

Hundeyin also revealed that the Area Commander in charge of Mushin has been directed to meet with the chairmen of the two local government areas covering the region to coordinate and bolster security operations.

“Raids on criminal hideouts, identified black spots, and slums will continue until all miscreants are flushed out. The suspects currently in custody are under investigation and will be charged to court soon,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police has assured residents of Mushin and Lagos at large of the command’s unwavering commitment to public safety.

Hundeyin urged residents to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station, emphasizing that officers have been instructed to respond swiftly to such alerts.
