The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated reconciliation committees to address conflicts and dissatisfaction arising from the recent local government primaries.
EpeInsights reports that the Lagos State APC Spokesman, Mr. Seye Oladejo, announced this in a statement on Tuesday in Lagos.
The primaries, held on May 10 ahead of the July 12 council elections, were marked by controversies, protests, and several petitions submitted to the party’s Appeal Committee.
“To ensure unity going into the elections, the party has decided to activate its internal conflict resolution and reconciliation mechanisms,” Oladejo said.
“The committees have been decentralized for efficient operation and timely delivery of their mandate.”
Dr. Lateef Ibirogba will chair the Lagos East Senatorial District Reconciliation Committee, with members including Mr. Saheed Afonja, Chief Sumbo Onitiri, and Mrs. Sade Bakare.
The Lagos Central Senatorial District committee is headed by former Lagos Deputy Governor Mrs. Sarah Sosan, alongside Funso Ologunde, Adedoyin Banjo, and Adigun Olalekan.
For Lagos West Senatorial District 1, the committee is led by Otunba Bode Oyedele, with Chief Jide Damazio, Alhaji Aleshinloye, and Mrs. Comfort Olalere as members.
The Lagos West Senatorial District 2 committee is chaired by Alhaji Mutiu Are, supported by Mrs. Jumoke Okoya, Otunba Kehinde Adeniyi, and Mrs. Adeola Rashidat.
Oladejo stated that the committees have two weeks to submit their reports.
Lagos State APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi praised the members for their experience and diverse representation within the party.
He urged them to diligently reconcile aggrieved members and foster unity ahead of the elections.
