The Lekki Local Council Development Area has partnered with the Lagos State Office of Sustainable Development Goals and Health District III to host a dedicated health outreach for elderly residents.
Epe Insights reports that the programme, tagged Care for the Elderly, was held at Idotun Primary Health Centre, where senior citizens received free medical screenings and essential healthcare services.
The outreach was designed to improve access to routine medical care for older persons, particularly those with limited resources. Beneficiaries underwent blood pressure and blood sugar tests, alongside general medical consultations.

Healthcare professionals also offered practical guidance on managing age-related illnesses and adhering to prescribed medications. Preventive health counselling and lifestyle advice formed part of the engagement.
Council authorities described the initiative as part of a broader commitment to inclusive and community-based healthcare delivery. They noted that senior citizens remain a priority group in local development planning.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman, Rasaki Bamidele Kasali, reaffirmed his administration’s focus on protecting vulnerable residents through sustained health interventions.
He stressed that collaboration with key government agencies and health institutions is essential to strengthening healthcare access across the LCDA.

Participants expressed appreciation for the outreach, describing it as timely and beneficial. Many elderly residents welcomed the opportunity to receive medical attention within their community.
Officials confirmed that similar programmes will be extended to other areas within the council to ensure continuous support for residents’ wellbeing.

The council reiterated its resolve to enhance primary healthcare systems and sustain preventive medical services as part of its long-term development agenda.
Through ongoing partnerships and grassroots engagement, Lekki LCDA aims to foster a healthier and more inclusive society where elderly residents receive the care and dignity they deserve.
