The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security as the enumeration of commercial motorcycles and tricycles continues across key communities.

Epe Insights reports that the ongoing exercise is taking place in Awoyaya, Abule Parapo, and Gbetu, where operators of Okada and tricycles are being registered as part of efforts to enhance safety and accountability.

The enumeration programme requires all commercial riders to formally register, obtain official identification stickers, and comply with approved uniforms and operational guidelines set by the local government.

According to officials, the initiative forms part of broader security strategies introduced to address growing concerns around unregulated commercial transportation within the area.

The local government stated that proper registration would help curb criminal activities often linked to unmonitored transport operations while promoting an organised road transport system.

During the exercise, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Mr Issa Maruf Olayinka, urged all Okada and tricycle operators to cooperate fully with the enumeration teams deployed to the communities.

He assured riders that the administration of Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa is committed to fairness and support for operators who comply with the registration process.

Residents were also encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local security outfits or relevant authorities to support the government’s safety efforts.

Community leaders in Awoyaya, Abule Parapo, and Gbetu have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a proactive step toward improving security at the grassroots level.

They noted that proper identification of commercial riders would assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining order and responding promptly to security challenges.

The local government reiterated that the enumeration exercise is ongoing and will be extended to additional communities in the coming days.

Officials assured residents that the programme is designed to protect both commuters and operators while fostering a safer and more organised environment across Ibeju-Lekki
