The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa has inaugurated a high-powered Committee on Security to strengthen community safety and protect lives and property across the council.

Epe Insights reports that the committee was inaugurated at the Exco Chambers, BAT House, Council Secretariat, Igando-Oloja, as part of the administration’s commitment to security under its S.H.I.E.E.L.D. agenda.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Olowa described security as the foundation for sustainable development, noting that meaningful growth cannot thrive in an atmosphere of fear or instability.

He explained that the committee would work closely with traditional rulers, community leaders and Community Development Associations to promote community-based security initiatives.

The chairman said the committee’s mandate includes intelligence gathering and the enumeration of commercial motorcycles, popularly known as okada, through the introduction of identification stickers for effective monitoring.

Hon. Olowa charged committee members to discharge their duties with urgency and patriotism, assuring them of the full support of the local government.

He also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information to enhance safety across communities.

The committee has been given one month to conclude its assignment and submit recommendations to strengthen the security architecture of Ibeju-Lekki.
