The Executive Chairman of Lekki Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali (MNSE, MNATE), has commenced another phase of road stabilisation projects across eight communities to improve transportation and enhance residents’ quality of life.
Epe Insights reports that the latest infrastructure intervention covers Ilege, Tiye, Itokin, Ebute Lekki, Ise, Isiwon, Itamarun, and Ojuoto. The project forms part of the council’s ongoing efforts to provide better road networks and improve connectivity across the LCDA.
The road stabilisation exercise is designed to strengthen road foundations before grading begins. This approach is expected to increase the lifespan of the roads while making them more reliable for motorists, commercial operators, and pedestrians.
According to the council, the project will also reduce the impact of flooding, especially during the rainy season. Improved road surfaces and stronger foundations are expected to make movement easier even during periods of heavy rainfall.
Road infrastructure remains a critical driver of economic growth and community development. Better roads improve access to schools, healthcare facilities, markets, businesses, and other essential services that residents depend on every day.
The ongoing works are expected to provide immediate relief for residents who have faced challenges navigating damaged and flood-prone roads. Improved accessibility will also support smoother transportation of goods and services across the affected communities.
Following the stabilisation phase, grading of the roads will commence immediately. The combination of stabilisation and grading is intended to create more durable road surfaces capable of withstanding regular use and changing weather conditions.
Residents of Ilege, Tiye, Itokin, Ebute Lekki, Ise, Isiwon, Itamarun, and Ojuoto are expected to benefit from safer travel and reduced vehicle maintenance costs as road conditions improve.

The initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to practical projects that address everyday challenges faced by residents. By prioritising road infrastructure, Lekki LCDA continues to invest in projects that deliver lasting value to communities.
Engr. Rasaki Bamidele Kasali has consistently identified infrastructure development as one of the key priorities of his administration. Road rehabilitation and maintenance have remained central to efforts aimed at supporting economic activities and improving living conditions.
Good road networks also encourage business growth by making it easier for traders, farmers, transport operators, and investors to access communities. Improved connectivity creates opportunities for commerce while strengthening local economies.
Community members have welcomed the commencement of the project, expressing optimism that the intervention will significantly improve daily transportation. Better roads are expected to reduce travel time and make movement more convenient for residents.
The administration noted that infrastructure development remains essential to sustainable community growth. Investments in road projects not only improve mobility but also contribute to safer neighbourhoods and increased economic productivity.

As work progresses across the eight communities, residents are expected to witness visible improvements in road conditions. The council has maintained that quality and durability remain priorities throughout the execution of the project.
The latest intervention adds to several infrastructure initiatives undertaken by Lekki LCDA to improve public facilities and expand access to essential services. These projects are aimed at creating a more resilient and inclusive environment for residents.
With stabilisation already underway and grading set to follow, the council is optimistic that the roads will provide long-term benefits for commuters, businesses, and surrounding communities.
The project also demonstrates the importance of proactive maintenance in preserving road infrastructure. Early intervention helps minimise deterioration while reducing the long-term cost of repairs.
For residents of the eight benefiting communities, the road stabilisation exercise represents another step toward improved mobility, enhanced safety, and stronger economic opportunities. The initiative reinforces Lekki LCDA’s commitment to delivering infrastructure projects that directly improve the lives of the people.
