The Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Akinloye Ismail, has called for stronger collaboration with traditional rulers to improve security and environmental sanitation across the council area.
Epe Insights reports that the chairman made the appeal during an emergency meeting with district traditional rulers, popularly known as Baales, held at the Marriage Registry Hall of the Eredo LCDA Secretariat.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the council and traditional institutions in addressing emerging security concerns and promoting a healthier environment in communities across Eredo LCDA.
The gathering began with an opening prayer led by Chief Apanishile Taofeek, the Baale of Togunbore in Poka Kingdom. The session brought together district traditional rulers to discuss issues affecting their respective communities.
During the meeting, Hon. Akinloye introduced Chief Lasisi Kabiru Olugbenga as the newly approved Baale of Odosinwonoye. The appointment followed approval by the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs.
The council chairman congratulated the new traditional ruler and urged him to work closely with other Baales in advancing peace, development, and effective grassroots leadership within the council area.
Addressing participants, Hon. Akinloye highlighted key issues that emerged from the recently concluded stakeholders’ meeting. He stressed the need for traditional rulers to provide accurate and timely information to relevant authorities.
According to the chairman, reliable communication between community leaders and government institutions is essential for effective decision-making and prompt responses to security challenges.
He also advised the Baales to avoid unnecessary disagreements and public criticism of one another. Instead, he encouraged them to strengthen unity and maintain a common purpose in serving their communities.
Hon. Akinloye emphasised that cooperation among traditional rulers would enhance the effectiveness of community leadership. He noted that a united traditional institution remains an important partner in promoting peace and stability.
The chairman further urged members of the Baales’ platform to deepen collaboration with royal fathers and other stakeholders. He said stronger synergy would improve community engagement and support sustainable development initiatives.
Expressing concern over recent intelligence reports, Hon. Akinloye said information received after the stakeholders’ meeting indicated the presence of unidentified occupants in some communities within Eredo LCDA.
He described the development as a matter requiring greater vigilance from traditional rulers. According to him, community leaders must remain attentive to activities within their domains and promptly report suspicious situations to appropriate authorities.
The council boss noted that traditional rulers occupy strategic positions in grassroots governance. Their close relationship with residents, he said, places them in a unique position to support security efforts and protect communities.
Beyond security, the chairman reiterated the importance of environmental sanitation. He encouraged the Baales to mobilise residents to maintain clean surroundings and support government initiatives aimed at promoting public health.
Participants at the meeting reportedly welcomed the discussions and reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with the council administration. They pledged to strengthen communication and collaborate on issues affecting their communities.
The meeting also reinforced the role of traditional institutions as critical partners in local governance. Stakeholders agreed that stronger cooperation between government and community leaders would contribute to safer and more organised communities.
Hon. Akinloye concluded by urging all traditional rulers to remain proactive in discharging their responsibilities. He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration, mutual respect, and timely information sharing would enhance security, improve environmental health, and support the overall development of Eredo Local Council Development Area.
