In a move to tackle the long-standing issue of water scarcity in Eredo Local Council Development Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, has launched the Solar Energy Borehole Project aimed at providing clean and sustainable water to all communities within the LCDA.
EpeInsights reports that the initiative, which leverages solar power to run boreholes, is designed to ensure a consistent and eco-friendly water supply.
The first phase of the solar borehole project targets six communities.
Odo-Iragunshin has been completed and is already supplying water to residents. Construction is currently ongoing in Ibonwon and Odomola (Kula Nla) while work is set to begin in Igbooye, Poka and Iraye immediately after the Sallah holiday.
Speaking about the initiative, Hon. Akinloye said his administration is committed to inclusive development and improving the quality of life for all residents.
He noted that the project will not only provide water but also help improve public health and hygiene across the LCDA.
The use of solar energy aligns with broader global efforts toward sustainability and climate resilience, offering a practical solution to local water challenges while reducing dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
For residents of Eredo, many of whom have struggled with limited access to potable water, the project offers hope for a healthier and more dignified future.
