The Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has unveiled the Renewed Hope Monthly Conditional Cash Transfer Initiative to provide financial support for aged persons and widows across the council area.
Epe Insights reports that the maiden edition of the programme saw the disbursement of ₦20,000 each to 100 beneficiaries, as part of efforts to ease economic hardship and promote social welfare at the grassroots.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, assured residents that the initiative is a monthly programme designed to rotate across all wards within the council.
He disclosed that while the first phase was centrally coordinated, subsequent disbursements would be conducted on a ward-by-ward basis and delivered directly to beneficiaries in their homes from next month.
According to the chairman, the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which has strengthened local governments with resources to effectively cater to vulnerable populations.
Hon. Akinloye explained that the programme reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and compassion-driven leadership, especially for senior citizens and widows who require consistent support.
He further announced plans to introduce an additional monthly ₦100,000 grant scheme targeted at a different category of beneficiaries, starting with 200 persons across the LCDA.
The chairman emphasised that the upcoming scheme would complement, but remain distinct from, the Renewed Hope Monthly Conditional Cash Transfer Initiative already in operation.
Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation to the council leadership, describing the intervention as timely and reassuring amid prevailing economic challenges.
The Eredo LCDA administration reaffirmed its resolve to sustain people-focused programmes that uplift vulnerable residents and strengthen community well-being.
