The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun, on saturday joined an array of dignitaries, royal emissaries and community leaders at the 8th Day Fidau Prayer held in honour of the late Olu Epe, Oba (Dr.) Shefiu Olatunji Adewale Bamgbopa, Eshilokun I.

EpeInsights reports that the Fidau Prayer, which took place at the late monarch’s palace in Isale Agoro, was led by the Grand Chief Imam of Epe Division, Imam Rahmon Abiola Sadalah.

The prayer session brought together a diverse mix of mourners including family members, traditional rulers, politicians, religious leaders, and residents, all united in paying tribute to a revered king whose reign was marked by peace, wisdom and service to humanity.

In her heartfelt tribute, Hon. Animashaun described the late Oba as a “spiritual and cultural pillar” of Epe whose wise counsel and support were instrumental to the progress of the community.

“Kabiyesi was a father to all, a leader whose wise counsel, calm disposition, and love for the people of Epe will never be forgotten,” she said.

“His departure is a great loss, but we take solace in the impact he made and the values he lived by. May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljanah Firdaus.”

Also speaking at the prayer gathering was the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who shared a personal reflection on the monarch, whom he fondly called Baba Jeje.

“Kabiyesi’s life was marked by quiet strength and dignity,” Dr. Hamzat said.

“He was a close friend of my father, and I witnessed firsthand the bond they shared. Lagos State mourns his passing, and we pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and peace.”

Other dignitaries in attendance included Hon. Abiodun Mustain Tobun, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Hon. Hakeem Shittu, Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB); Dr. Muritala Abiodun, Accountant General of Lagos State; and High Chief Waheed Alaolu, who led the delegation representing the Oloja of Epe Land, His Royal Majesty Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashaun.

The Akinrogun of Epe Kingdom, Otunba Shakirudeen Anifowoshe, alongside several traditional chiefs, Islamic scholars, and community elders, also graced the prayer session.

The 8th Day Fidau was not only a spiritual observance but a moving tribute to a monarch whose legacy of humility, cultural pride, and community service continues to resonate across Epe and beyond.Epe Council Boss, Dignitaries Honour Late Olu Epe at 8th Day Fidau Prayer
