The Convener of the Lagos State Baales Forum, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, explained that the “Operation Show Your PVC” initiative was established to deepen civic awareness through the traditional institution.
Epe Insights reports that the campaign was designed to strengthen civic education while encouraging eligible residents to register, collect, and safeguard their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Dr. Seyi Bamigbade said Baales occupy strategic positions within their communities and are well placed to educate residents on the importance of active participation in democratic activities.
Dr. Bamigbade encouraged traditional leaders to sustain grassroots sensitisation efforts and continue promoting responsible citizenship across Lagos State.
According to him, stronger civic participation begins at the community level, where traditional institutions can effectively mobilise residents and encourage informed public engagement.
One of the major highlights of the programme was the symbolic display of Permanent Voter Cards by Baales from across the Epe Division.
In a collective demonstration of civic consciousness, the traditional leaders proudly raised their PVCs to encourage eligible residents to participate actively in future elections.
The symbolic exercise also reflected their commitment to strengthening democratic values and promoting wider grassroots involvement in the electoral process.
During the gathering, the Baales expressed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat as Governor of Lagos State.

The programme also attracted revered traditional rulers from different communities across Epe Division, reflecting the unity and cooperation that exist among the region’s traditional institutions.
Their presence reinforced the shared commitment of traditional leaders to promoting peace, civic education, and sustainable community development.
Participants described the campaign as an important platform for strengthening public awareness about civic duties and encouraging responsible citizenship.
They noted that traditional institutions remain trusted partners in mobilising residents and supporting initiatives that promote democratic participation.
Community stakeholders commended the Lagos State Baales Forum for introducing an initiative that combines civic education with grassroots mobilisation.
They observed that the active involvement of Baales would further increase awareness of the importance of obtaining and safeguarding Permanent Voter Cards.
The campaign also highlighted the growing collaboration between government, traditional institutions, and community leaders in advancing democratic values across Lagos State.
Observers said such partnerships remain essential for building informed communities where residents actively participate in governance and contribute to sustainable development.
As the programme concluded, participants renewed their commitment to continuing civic awareness campaigns within their respective communities.
