Epe Local Government has reminded parents and guardians of the commencement of the Children’s Eye Screening Exercise under its ongoing Free Medical, Mental, Dental, and Eye Care Outreach, scheduled for Saturday, January 3, and Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Epe Insights reports that the exercise will take place at the Epe Local Government Secretariat, with activities starting promptly by 8:00am on both days, as part of efforts to promote early eye care for children in Epe and surrounding communities.

According to the council, the screening programme is designed to detect eye conditions

at an early stage, particularly those that may require specialised medical attention if left untreated.

Health officials involved in the outreach explained that early diagnosis remains critical in preventing avoidable visual impairment among children, especially during their formative years.

Parents and guardians have been encouraged to bring their children early to ensure adequate attention and smooth coordination throughout the exercise.

The local government assured residents that qualified eye care professionals will be on ground to conduct the screenings and provide guidance where further medical intervention is required.

Officials added that the children’s eye screening forms part of a broader commitment by the council to improve access to healthcare and promote preventive medical services at the grassroots.

Residents were advised to take advantage of the free programme, noting that timely eye checks can significantly improve children’s learning ability, confidence, and overall quality of life.

The council reiterated that the outreach reflects its dedication to community wellbeing and inclusive healthcare delivery for all residents of Epe.
