The Araromi Oguntimehin Kingdom recently held its annual community celebration, a vibrant gathering designed to foster communal love and appreciation for the children and youths of the kingdom.
EpeInsights gathered that the event, now a yearly tradition brought together residents, guests and visitors in a joyful display of culture, unity and youth empowerment.
HRM. Oba Olayeni Arowolo Adebambo, the Gbadewolu of Araromi Oguntimehin Kingdom, hosted several schools and children for the 12th annual Araromi Children’s Day celebration on May 27, 2025.
The traditional ruler warmly welcomed attendees and emphasised the importance of preserving cultural heritage and strengthening communal bonds.
He noted that such celebrations are key to building pride and identity among the younger generation.
The ceremony officially began with the flag-off of the march past, where students and pupils from various schools in Araromi and surrounding communities participated in coordinated parades.
Their well-organised formations and cultural expressions impressed the audience, reflecting discipline and community spirit.
As the celebration progressed, attendees were treated to an array of cultural performances, including traditional Yoruba dances, playful games like the bottle challenge and the popular Antilogwu dance.
A particularly engaging moment was the children’s cosplay of the Imale-Igodo masquerade, which showcased their understanding of and connection to cultural practices.
In recognition of service to the community, several individuals were honoured with traditional titles.
Chief Ojo Segun was bestowed with the title of Otun Asojuoba, Chief Ayoade Rotimi received the Otun Jagunmolu title, while Chief Atanda Haruna was conferred with the title of Aare Gbobaniyi of Araromi Kingdom.
The event concluded on a note of celebration and reflection, reinforcing the kingdom’s commitment to nurturing its cultural roots and empowering the next generation through meaningful communal engagement.
